Inspired by true events, a group of women find themselves imprisoned in a Japanese-run internment camp during World War II, in present day Indonesia. Fighting to survive, they find community and hope through the formation of a choir.
This production is a radical reimagining of Bruce Beresford’s 1997 film of the same name, reframed to put the queer and global majority stories of these women at the centre of the musical.
The show is written in collaboraiton with Hugo Chiarella, Johan Amatsakio, composed by Naomi Livingston, directed by Mingyu Lin, and music directed by Nicola Chang.
With support from Neil Gooding Productions, Birmingham Hippodrome, The Other Palace, and York Theatre Royal, this musical is currently in production with plans for a concert presentation in 2025.

MIA: Out of Sync is an immersive theatre performance that takes audiences on a guided journey through Battersea Arts Centre, culminating in a one-woman performance.
Wearing headphones, follow the voice of Mia, a young autistic woman, through corridors, staircases, and hidden corners, encountering a series of audio scenes and visual moments along the way. As Mia navigates adolescence, migration, and her film-making dreams, everyday spaces begin to shift — sounds layer, details intensify, and familiar environments become unfamiliar.
Written in collaboration with Cassie Siqi Xue, and produced by Summer Xue, MIA: Out of Sync was created as part of the Homegrown Festival 2026.

Inspired by The Nutmeg’s Curse by Amitav Ghosh, this new devised show takes in the stories of our natural environments and our non-human peers to explore how these shape our views and actions in a world in crisis.
This show was produced by New Earth Theatre as part of Seedlings: A Climate Festival for the Curious and Hopeful 2025.
